The Klick wine dream began in the summer of 1996 while working on the family vineyard. Karen, my future bride to be, and I developed a keen interest in viticulture and the art of winemaking. With graduation from St. Mary's college nearing, I put my career on hold and decided to extend my studies. This time I redirected my educational goals, and focused my second degree at UC Davis on the particulars of growing wine grapes, wine production and understanding every detail of the wine industry.
Knowing the best wines come from the best grapes I began working for a vineyard management company in Sonoma County, managing over 1000 acres of premium and ultra premium wine grapes. In the past five years I have been able to work with the top wineries, consultants of grape growing and winemaking, and farm top quality grapes in Sonoma valley, Russian river valley, Alexander valley, dry creek valley, chalk hill, Yorkville highlands, clear lake, and Napa valley. This experience has taught me how to achieve excellence in the vineyard.
In the fall of 2001, after 3 years of post undergraduate studies in viticulture and enology and a total of 5 years hands on experience, Karen (now my wife) and I acted upon our vision and harvested our first vintage of Klick wine. We made decisions on the types of wines we would start our winery with, and focused on ensuring the highest quality from vine to the bottle.
